Last month, we celebrated our love with Valentine’s Day. Many people sent flowers, bought candy, and, in pandemic times, had a fancy dinner by candlelight at home. We gave cards with special sentiments included.
Since Valentine’s Day, how many times have you said “I love you” to your special people? Is one day a year enough to express our emotions?
The answer should be obvious: no!
We too often hold back saying what is in our hearts. Having a special day to do extra-nice activities is wonderful, but our loved ones need to hear we care more than once a year.
Many people have lost relatives or friends during the pandemic. Others, like myself, have lost parents and cousins through old age in recent years. We need orally to express our feelings to those now in our lives, for we never know when they may be gone.
Why not today make a heart-shaped anything and write “I Love You” on it? Smile shyly and hand it to your special family member or friend. You might light up his/her face with happiness.
Also, if you are lucky enough to have senior family members still living, sit down and interview them. You can use a digital tape recorder or at least take notes in a journal. Your relatives will enjoy knowing someone cares enough to find out the details of their lives and to record them for future family generations.

Great blog! I have never liked commercializm. My husband and I tell each other frequently, every day how much we love each other. I have always shunned the “special days” because we should share our love every day.
